Starting with a piece of hardwood, I place embers and coals on the wood and let them burn the depressions into the surface. Scrape, repeat, put the whole piece in the fire — finally letting the flames dictate the final shape. Each piece is oiled with an all-natural wood oil and waxed for a final finish which is food safe.
